At Elyria Youth Sports Club, our mission is to provide inclusive outlets for the youth in our community, promoting participation, skill development, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and empowering young individuals through sports.

Aric Bowens
President & Founder
Aric Bowens was born in Flint, Michigan in 1976. A family oriented, father of 5 children is an Elyria native who has always been active in sports, church and various community activities. He played varsity football at Elyria High School and Elyria West High School where he graduated in 1995. He was a member of the 4x100 meter relay state championship team. He went on to play football in college and served 6 years with the United States Army Reserve, where his leadership and dedication were further ingrained.
Currently serving as the president and founder of Elyria Youth Sports Club Founder, he’s deeply driven to provide superior mentoring and youth driven programming. He has served as founder and past president of several grassroot, community-based organizations which include The Ambassador Brothers Men's Group, Elyria Black Legacy, Elyria South Baseball Club, Elyria Youth Track Club, Elyria Youth Chess Club and most recently Elyria Youth Sports Club.

Algernon Wiggins, a resident of Elyria, is a retired US Navy Veteran known as Coach Wiggins. He has coached at various levels. He played youth baseball at Elyria South. Our goal is to build great citizens that also play baseball. We want all to feel welcome at ESBC. I am honored and ready to lead this group. I look forward to serving the youth of ESBC.

Elyria Youth Track Club Board

Jo Ann Madison has a deep passion for sports and a commitment to the personal and professional development of youth. She has over 25 years of involvement in track and field. Madison has served various non-profit organizations, lending her expertise and guidance as a board member. With her husband, Coach Bob Madison, she has actively participated in numerous coaches’ clinics and workshops, including prestigious events such as the USATF and US Olympic Trials Super Clinics in Eugene, Oregon.
Mrs. Madison is the proud mother of Christina Madison and Tianna Madison. Christina excelled as a Nike Indoor LJ Silver medalist in 2005, State Outdoor LJ Champion in 2006, and Purdue Big 10 LJ Champion in 2010. Tianna has achieved remarkable success on the world stage, earning 3x Olympic gold medal titles, 3x World Championship titles, and 3x Diamond League Championship titles.

Elyria Youth Chess Club Board

Owner of Art Conceptions LLC in Elyria and Retired NASA IT Specialist. Born and raised in Berea, Ohio and a graduate of Berea High School. After High School, He attended Central State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and Business Management. Has been in various stage plays, and films. Experience includes plays at Karamu, Cleveland State, The Doboma, Akron Civic Center, Black Repertory Theatre, and The Julia Morgan Center in Berkeley California.
Community work includes Puppeteering and creator of the puppet group Puppeteer Nubians with partnerships with the Cleveland Federal Executive Board, The Cleveland Public Library, Americana Sickle Cell Anemia Association, Red Cross, and the Lorain County Urban League to do puppet shows and workshops educating youth as well as adults on Sickle Cell Anemia, Nutrition, Reading, Self Esteem, and Black History. Children's book author his first book, “Grandpa Nubian Grows Greens” which teaches children patience. His second book, “Grandma Nubian Goes Grocery Shopping '' teaches children about nutrition. Ran for Oberlin City Council in 2002 where he and his wife Nola currently reside. Playing Chess since the age of 13 and was lead coach of Elyria Youth Chess Club. He gives all his credit to God who has blessed him with these gifts.
